NOTICE FOR PATIENTS:
ACCESSING MOUNJARO MEDICATION FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
You may have seen the media reporting that GP surgeries can now start to prescribe Mounjaro (tirzepatide) for weight management, However the ICB are currently still sorting the arrangements for this.
There will be strict criteria for patients to be prescribed this drug and it will be phased in gradually through a special agreement between NICE and the NHS in England, to ensure primary care services are not overwhelmed and can manage the extra demand safely.
This means that access will be prioritised for those with the greatest clinical need, as they would benefit most from the treatment.
For Kent and Medway, GP surgeries will not be able to prescribe this medication for obesity until all arrangements are in place.
Please DO NOT CONTACT us for medication for weight management.
When we have more information for the ICB we will update this message.
