From 26 January 2015 the Thorndike is further enhancing the way it deals with patients that request to see a GP on a daily basis. Patients that have long term conditions or the doctor has asked to be seen will be offered an appointment that can be pre booked when the doctor requests. If a patient has a medical problem or needs to be seen on the day then the system will change as set out below.
If you need an on the day appointment you will be dealt with by our Minor Illness team who are able to deal with many conditions, such as earache, coughs and back pain. In addition, they are able to prescribe appropriate medication for a number of illnesses.
If they assess you and feel you need to see a GP they will have the link to be able to offer you that appointment.
Patients attending the reception desk will be offered either an appointment with our Minor Illness team, or a telephone consultation with one of our Doctors.
The telephone consultation will be a triage of your condition where the doctor will decide on the best course of action, which may be a prescription, a routine appointment, or an appointment on the same day.
the existing facility to ring the surgery in order to make an appointment has not changed and is still available for patients.
